Luke 12:13 (NLT)
The Parable of the Rich Fool
13 Then someone called from the crowd, “Teacher, please tell my brother to divide our father’s estate with me.”

DRAWING NOTES:

TIME OF DAY:
Not specified in the Bible, I have set the scene in the mid morning.

LIGHTING NOTES:
The Sun, high in the sky (on the left) illuminates this scene, casting shadows to the right of people and objects.

CHARACTERS PRESENT:
Two Hebrew brothers, in the centre of the picture, amongst a crowd of people, listening to Jesus.

RESEARCH/ADDITIONAL NOTES:
I decided to draw the two brothers mentioned in the narrative in quite strong colours, especially compared to the other onlookers, so that they would literally “stand out from the crowd”! Various people in the crowd are reacting to the first brother’s comment, “Teacher, please tell my brother to divide our father’s estate with me.” Some people are looking perplexed, some shocked, some puzzled, some cross at the interruption of Jesus’ teaching!

I quite enjoyed designing the stone architecture behind the crowd too.
