Bible Reference & Cartoon Description

Luke 12:14-15 (NLT)
14 Jesus replied, “Friend, who made me a judge over you to decide such things as that?” 15 Then he said, “Beware! Don’t be greedy for what you don’t have. Real life is not measured by how much we own.”

DRAWING NOTES:

TIME OF DAY:
Not specified in the Bible, I have set the scene in the mid morning.

LIGHTING NOTES:
The Sun, high in the sky (on the right *1) illuminates this scene, casting shadows to the left of people.

CHARACTERS PRESENT:
Jesus is in the centre of the scene, with arms spread wide, talking to the two brothers.
Matthew/Levi is behind Jesus, on the left, with Simon/Peter to the right. Mary Magdalene is to the right of Simon/Peter.
Behind these central characters is the crowd, listening to Jesus’ words.

RESEARCH/ADDITIONAL NOTES:
This is a simpe scene, from a design point of view, but it takes a long time to draw and colour up all those people!

*1 This scene is set at the same time as Scene 01 (see previous page), but we are looking from behind the two brothers, and seeing Jesus and some of his disciples. Therefore the sun is on the right, the reverse/opposite side it is on in Scene 01.
