DRAWING NOTES:

TIME OF DAY:
Morning

LIGHTING NOTES:
Strong desert sunlight from the left casts striking shadows to the right of this scene.

CHARACTERS PRESENT:
Moses, a buried Egyptian, someone in the background.

RESEARCH/ADDITIONAL NOTES:
This scene shows Moses burying an Egyptian in the sand near some scaffolding & building work. I decided against showing Moses throttling or hitting the Egyptian, & preferred instead to depict the scene after the murder. We can see Moses using a square shovel to pour sand over the dead man’s body. You can just see a hand sticking out of the sand at Moses’ feet!

Notice there is a figure in the distance. We know from verse 13-14 that Moses’ murderous actions must have been witnessed, which causes him to then flee from Egypt.

I decided to include some dark silhouetted scaffolding in the foreground, which acts to frame the figure of Moses in strong horizontal & vertical lines.

Bible Doctrine Notes
2:11-15 CHRISTIAN ETHICS, Justice (4.42B)

Injustice surrounds us daily. Often, when we take matters into our own hands, we only compound injustice rather than righting it. Murder is never the right way to deal with injustice. We must seek God’s path towards real, divinely inspired justice.
