Meta4 Picture Description

This picture is based on something I heard our preacher say at the church I attend. He advised us to turn the volume down on the world, and to turn up the volume of the Lord! I think he was referring to us deliberately “turning down the volume” of the many different distractions that the world offers us, and conversely to deliberately “tune in & turn up the volume” as we listen to what the Lord has to say to us. That idea immediately sparked an image of hands turning volume control knobs (as on a stereo hi-fi system), with those old fashioned illuminated needle indicators above the hands.

In my illustration there are obvious elements from the world & the Lord… the left hand side of the picture represents the world, and the right hand side represents God. At the top of the image are things we might associate with each of these two contrasting things. The left hand side has bombs, violence, lust, conflict, macro evolution, etc. The right hand side has Jesus, the cross, communion (bread & wine), & praying hands.

I’m not saying that any of the elements on the left hand side are totally wrong, although I hope you will agree that nuclear holocaust ought to be avoided! I’m not anti-computer either. It’s just that, as we all know, they can be used for good or evil. Computers can be great assets to us, but they can be mis-used just as easily. As the old adage goes fire can be used to burn, or to warm us. Fire itself isn’t inherently good or bad, it’s the use it is put to that determines that.

I thought I would include a close up of Covid-19 virus cells near the middle top of the picture, that being a current concern of all of us!
