Bible Reference & Cartoon Description

Luke 24:31-32 (NLT)
Suddenly, their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. And at that moment he disappeared! 32 They said to each other, “Didn’t our hearts burn within us as he talked with us on the road and explained the Scriptures to us?”

This scene is inside a house, there is general lighting coming from behind & to the right of the viewer, casting shadows behind & to the left of the figures & objects.

From right to left: James/Cleopas (son of Alphaeus), Doctor Luke (a gentile).

This scene was specially commissioned; the customer wanted me to show the characters “hearts burning within us” from verse 32. I have made two versions of this scene, one with & one without that “heart burning” visual effect.

There are two versions of this scene:
01) (Previous page) Luke 24 – Walk to Emmaus – Scene 03 – Opened eyes (Version 01). This version does not have the “heart burning” effect on James & Doctor Luke.

02) (This page) Luke 24 – Walk to Emmaus – Scene 03 – Opened eyes (Version 02). This version shows the “heart glow” of James & Doctor Luke.

This is a simple scene, showing the two disciples reclining on cushions at a low table. The resurrected Jesus has just blessed the bread & has disappeared from view.
