Luke 18:1 (ANIV)
The parable of the persistent widow
Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.
TIME OF DAY:
Unspecified in the Bible. I have set this scene in the mid morning.
The sun (high & on th left) is casting shadows to the right of figures, buildings & objects in this scene.
Notice the figures on the left are in the shadow of the building on the left.
Jesus (in white head scarf & blue outer robe) has his right arm around the shoulders of his disciple, James/Cleopas (son of Alphaeus). Another disciple, James (son of Zebedee) has his hands together in a posture of prayer.
Various men, women & children are listening to Jesus’s parable.
This scene shows Jesus talking to a crowd of people in a village or town. He is about to tell them the parable of the persistent widow.
Notice the dog looking up at Jesus from behind James. There is also a bird (sea gull) on a building wall in the background, and a green lizard on a wall on the left of the scene.
Notice the expressions of the various listeners, some are curious, some are shocked, some are dismissive, some are hostile to Jesus’s words. I’m sure he encountered all sorts of reactions as he told people parables & all about the kingdom of God.
Here’s the scene without the figures.
