Bible Reference & Cartoon Description

Luke 2:45-47 (NLT)
45 When they couldn’t find him, they went back to Jerusalem to search for him there. 46 Three days later they finally discovered him in the Temple, sitting among the religious teachers, listening to them and asking questions. 47 All who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers.

Day time.

The sun (high in the sky on the right) illuminates this scene, casting shadows below & to the left of figures & objects.

Jesus (as young boy in blue outer robe) sitting amongst various religious leaders, Levites, etc.
Mary (the mother of Jesus) & Joseph (Jesus step-father), in the left foreground.

This scene shows the 12 year old Jesus sitting on some steps, listening & talking to various Jewish religious leaders, teachers, scribes, etc in the courtyard of the temple in Jerusalem, after the Passover celebrations had concluded. Mary & Joseph are looking worried (at losing Jesus) & then will look relieved at having found him again.

Notice the young boy in green who has been tasked with sweeping the floor of the courtyard. He is smiling, with a look of admiration at the young Jesus, holding court among all those highly respected religious leaders!

The colouring of the background temple buildings, columns, etc comes from “Luke 02 – Prophecies about Jesus – Scene 03 – Simeon’s blessing” which I drew in February 2018. I like to keep designs & colouring similar in appearance, as that adds continuity between scenes, despite them sometimes being drawn years apart!

Here is the scene without the figures in the foreground.
