John 1:9-13 (ANIV)
9 The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world.
10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognise him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
Or, This was the true light that gives light to every man who comes into the world.
Greek, of bloods.
TIME OF DAY:
Not specified in Bible narrative. I have set this scene in the late morning.
The sun (high on the right) illuminates this scene, casting shadows below & to the left of figures & objects.
Jesus (with blue outer robe & white head scarf) is in the centre of this scene.
There is a crowd of people around Jesus, the ones on the left are all accepting of his message of salvation, while the people on the right are all rejecting him & his message.
This scene, set within a village or town, is my visual representation of the two groups of people mentioned in the verses above. The first group (those who accepted Jesus & his message) is referenced as “…all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God”. The 2nd group of people (those who rejected Jesus & his message of salvation) are on the left “…the world did not recognise him. He came to that which was his own (the Jews), but his own did not receive him.”
Here is the scene without the figures in the foreground.
