This third scene is set at the boundary between the kingdom of darkness & the kingdom of light; Jesus’ kingdom. We can see the lighter kingdom on the right, illuminated with the cross of Jesus. The daemons are all clawing and pulling at the woman with dark brown hair & a blue dress, trying to keep her in their dark kingdom, but she has seen the light, & is determinedly walking out of the darkness & into that light.
I could have shown the woman, crawling & straining to get out of the kingdom of darkness; making it look incredibly difficult to do so, but I didn’t want to show too much demonic resistance to someone’s choice to leave the dark kingdom & enter God’s wonderful kingdom of light. I believe God restricts and limits any spiritual barriers we might face, & He makes it relatively easy to leave the dark kingdom, although it has to be a conscious, deliberate choice on our part to believe in Jesus & to do so.
This scene (as 01 & 02) is set in winter which represents the woman’s early life, both in terms of her youth and her Christian experience. The flowers poking through the snow are Galanthus nivalis (aka Snowdrops). Galanthus is derived from the Greek words “gala” for milk and “anthos” for flower, while nivalis is Latin for “of the snow”. There are about 20 known wild species of snowdrops in the genus Galanthus.
Here’s the rough pencil sketch I drew for this scene.
