DRAWING NOTES:
TIME OF DAY:
Unspecified in Bible narrative, I have set this scene in the late morning.
LIGHTING NOTES:
The sun (high in the sky on the left (West) illuminates this scene, casting shadows to the right and below figures and objects.
CHARACTERS PRESENT:
From left to right: The farmer, two of his servants.
RESEARCH/ADDITIONAL NOTES:
This scene occurs some months later than the previous scenes, as here the plants are growing, but aren’t yet ready to be harvested. At this stage the weeds (Lolium temulentum (aka Darnel)) look very similar to the wheat. We can see two of the farmers servants looking confused and bewildered as to where all the weeds might have come from. The farmer is just about to explain the weed seeds origin to them.
The background is taken from the former scenes, but is more tightly focussed on the corner of the field we saw the farmer scattering seed in (in Scene 01), with the wooden gate behind the figures, leading into the farmyard (unseen and off to the left).
Here’s the scene without the figures in the foreground.
