Bible Reference & Cartoon Description

Matthew 1:20-21 (NLT)
20 As he [Joseph] considered this, he fell asleep, and an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. “Joseph, son of David,” the angel said, “do not be afraid to go ahead with your marriage to Mary. For the child within her has been conceived by the Holy Spirit. 21 And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, [1] for he will save his people from their sins.”

[1]
Jesus means “The Lord saves”.

DRAWING NOTES:

TIME OF DAY:
Unspecified in the Bible narrative, I have assumed it was night time.

LIGHTING NOTES:
The glow emanating from the angel lights the scene.

CHARACTERS PRESENT:
Joseph & an unnamed angel.

RESEARCH/ADDITIONAL NOTES:
I decided not to add my usual feathery wings to the angel on this occasion. The Bible informs us that some people have brought strangers into their homes, without even realising that they were actually entertaining angels (see Hebrew 13:2 below). This being the case, I decided to show the angel in my picture as being less angelic looking & more human looking. Nevertheless, I could help myself & have given the angel a heavenly glow!

Hebrews 13:2 (NLT).
Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!
