DRAWING NOTES:

TIME OF DAY:
Day.

LIGHTING NOTES:
Simple sunlight, from above.

CHARACTERS PRESENT:
Mary (Jesus in womb) & Joseph (in white robes)
Joseph’s mother and father are holding Mary’s hand, welcoming her into their family. Mary’s father & mother can be seen by the door to the house, waving.
Various relatives of Mary and Joseph make up the crowd of well-wishers, both outside & inside the tent (the purple, flower-festooned structure in the left background.)

RESEARCH/ADDITIONAL NOTES:
This is pretty much an imagined scene. I research suitable flowers for the wedding, which we can see in the fore ground. The two main flowers are the long white Madonna Lily (Lilium candidum) & the Common Almond (Prunus dulcis, syn. Prunus amygdalus Batsch., Amygdalus communis L., Amygdalus dulcis Mill.)

The Madonna Lily has long been associated with the Virgin Mary, probably because of its large pure white flowers and the brief appearance of the flower in late spring. The Almond flower is also symbolic of the Virgin Mary’s purity. It seemed apt to use these two flowers in the foreground and tent floral displays.
