DRAWING NOTES:

TIME OF DAY:
Unspecified.

LIGHTING NOTES:
The dominant light is the fiery yellow/orange from the flames of hell in this scene. There is a contrasting cool blue/white light coming from heaven, across the chasm. You can see the flames glow picked out on the rock face.
I have added radiating light rays, as in previous scenes of this series, coming from a point at the very top of the picture, which represents the dazzling brightness of the centre of Heaven, where the Lord God is.

CHARACTERS PRESENT:
The soul/spirit of the Rich man, in the fiery cup of flames in Hell, with small figures of Abraham, Lazarus & one of the angels who carried Lazarus to heaven in the background, in the top right of the scene.

RESEARCH/ADDITIONAL NOTES:
There are 2 versions of this scene:
1) The Smooth version (see previous Bible Cartoon)
2) The Scorched version
The Smooth version is so named because the Rich man’s skin is not marked; he is simply surrounded by flames.
The Scorched version shows the Rich man’s skin mottled & burned by Hell’s fire.

This was not a pleasant scene to draw, as it really brings home some of the horror of the fires of Hell. However, the Bible makes it clear that Hell is a real place & there is a very real danger that unrepentant sinners shall go there. Fortunately Jesus gives us a way out: repentance & confessing belief in him. Upon believing in Jesus & confessing our allegiance to Him, we are immediately saved from the eternal flames of Hell.
