DRAWING NOTES:

TIME OF DAY:
Verse 19 tells us the time of day is “very early the next morning”.

LIGHTING NOTES:
Light from the pale sun illuminates this scene, coming in at a low angle as the dawn sun is low in the sky.

CHARACTERS PRESENT:
Daniel looking up and shouting towards the cave opening above him.
Angel.
Five lions (Panthera leo).

RESEARCH/ADDITIONAL NOTES:
Most of this scene (Daniel, the lions, the sunlight) has already been designed in the Scene 08 – Into the den, so it has been easy to colour up this scene. The major differences between Scene 12 and 08 is the presence of the angel, and the difference in the sunlight coming through the opening in the ceiling of the lions’ den. Unlike Scene 08, the sunlight in Scene 12 is coming into the lions’ den from a lower angle, which is because the sun has only just come up at dawn.

I enjoyed making the lions look friendlier in this scene, compared to Scene 08!
