The Christian journey - a Dutch idea comes to life!

Posted 16 Jan 2026

Just before Christmas 2025 I received an email from a lady in the Netherlands, asking if I had drawn anything like a road map illustrating the journey of a person from first coming to faith in Jesus, and outlining the life they might lead. I had to admit that I haven’t drawn anything like that, but I was intrigued by the idea, and started to draw some pencil sketches to get ideas down on paper.

After several emails back & forth with the Dutch lady, working out what we might create, the idea has grown into a series of (at the moment!) 16 illustrations. I haven’t drawn the last 5, but hope to in the near future. I have emailed the first 11 pencil sketches to the Dutch lady to get her initial thoughts on the material.

The idea now is to show some of the situations and circumstances someone might face, on their journey of faith. The first few scenes show a person in the kingdom of darkness, then leaving there, and beginning their journey of faith, represented by pathways through various scenes. Signposts, angels, daemons, distractions, companions, pitfalls, baptism, and a whole host of other things will be illustrated.

I am hoping that this series of illustrations (once eventually finished) will be very useful to ministers, preachers, Sunday school teachers, R.E. teachers, etc, in explaining the (possible) journey of faith of someone who is initially an unbelievers, but then becomes a believer, then a follower and disciple of Jesus, culminating in the end of the world!
