This is my map of Southern Israel showing the probable route taken by Elimelech, Naomi & their two sons, when they escaped the famine in Bethlehem, Israel and went to live in the country of Moab. The Bible narrative doesn’t specify where in Moab the family settled. In a straight line the distance is about 50 miles (80.5 Km) but that is across the Dead Sea itslfl! Elimelich and his family would have used well known trade routes, going either northwards, around the Dead Sea, or else southwards, via villages and towns along the route. The journey was more like 95-100 miles (150-160 Km), and would have taken several days to complete.
Date
Approximately 1050 B.C.
Notice the figures on the border of the map.
If you look carefully at the map border you will see I have included some little black and white figures. I will add different figures to the borders of each map, adding characters that relate to the map subject.

Ruth 1:1-2 (NLT)
1 In the days when the judges ruled in Israel, a severe famine came upon the land. So a man from Bethlehem in Judah left his home and went to live in the country of Moab, taking his wife and two sons with him. 2 The man’s name was Elimelech, and his wife was Naomi. Their two sons were Mahlon and Kilion. They were Ephrathites from Bethlehem in the land of Judah. And when they reached Moab, they settled there.
