Nehemiah 2:14-15 (ANIV)
14 Then I moved on towards the Fountain Gate and the King’s Pool, but there was not enough room for my mount to get through; 15 so I went up the valley by night, examining the wall. Finally, I turned back and re-entered through the Valley Gate.

DRAWING NOTES:

TIME OF DAY:
Verse 12 tells us Nehemiah went out at night.

LIGHTING NOTES:
There are two sources of light in this scene. The first is the full moon which gives a cool, blue hue to the landscape. The second is a warm, yellow/orange light coming from two unseen torches Nehemiah’s companions are carrying (behind the viewer).

CHARACTERS PRESENT:
From left to right: Donkey, Nehemiah son of Hacaliah.

RESEARCH/ADDITIONAL NOTES:
This scene shows Nehemiah inspecting his donkey’s front hoof, which has a stone lodged in it.

I have used the same colouring as in previous images, to maintain continuity between them.
