Acts 27:18-19 (ANIV)
18 We took such a violent battering from the storm that the next day they [the ship’s crew] began to throw the cargo overboard. 19 On the third day, they threw the ship’s tackle overboard with their own hands.
DRAWING NOTES:
TIME OF DAY:
Unspecified in the Bible narrative. It could be day or night, as the sun is obscured by the storm clouds, so I have set this scene in the day time.
LIGHTING NOTES:
The hurricane is blotting out the sun, so only vague sunshine is illuminating this scene. The lightning also adds some light.
CHARACTERS PRESENT:
Various sailors on the ship.
RESEARCH/ADDITIONAL NOTES:
This scene shows some of the sailors throwing the ship’s equipment overboard, because the hurricane is getting more severe. I have introduced purple hues into the clouds and sea to darken the picture and make the atmosphere seem dense and more oppressive in nature.
Note: We can’t see the lifeboat (secured by the sailors by ropes to the mid deck in the previous scene) because of the low angle we are viewing the ship.
